Spring Care Tips For Your Hot Tub
If you winterized your hot tub, you may be wondering when the best time to de-winterize your spa is and how. The best time to de-winterize your spa is when you plan to use again it on a regular basis (we recommend winterizing your hot tub if it will be left unattended for longer than 6 weeks) and when the temperatures in your area stay above freezing consistently.
To de-winterize your hot tub, do the following:
- Clean areas of your spa that have gotten dirty over the winter.
- Clear the antifreeze out of your plumbing. Even if you used a non-toxic antifreeze, it’s still a good idea to get it out of the pipes so it doesn’t irritate your skin. To do this, fill the hot tub only partially with water, run the pumps for a few minutes, and then drain your tub.
- Reconnect the pumps and heaters, open the air-bleed valves, and close the drain valves.
- Finally, replace the filters and refill the hot tub with new water.
- Turn on the spa, and then shock or super sanitize the spa water to make sure your spa is as clean as possible.
- Adjust the settings to your preferred temperature and wait for it to warm up. Typically, Bullfrog Spas heat up 3-5 degrees per hour. It’ll be worth the wait!
- When the hot tub reaches your ideal temperature, hop in and enjoy!
